Before Covid, I went through a lot of red ink. Every Wednesday and Thursday night you could find me sprawled on my living room floor surrounded by pages and pages of newspaper articles. And every Wednesday and Thursday night I read every single word of my county's three weekly newspapers. Every single headline, attribution, article, calendar item, date, obituary and page number was read by me. I was the copy editor, responsible for not only spelling and punctuation but also accuracy, clarity, story structure and grammar. When the pandemic and subsequent shutdown hit, the publisher of the newspapers was forced to cut their staff by more than half... which means two things:
1) I don't have to stay up until 2am reading the newspapers twice a week, and 2) You can now have my eyes on your writing!
